Hi Greta,
I wouldn't give babies under the age of 1 year honey-- even cooked. Botulism spores are tough to kill (even with heat) and given the immature immune system in babies, I wouldn't risk it.

Ellie Krieger's honey roasted sweet potatoe recipe sounds delicious. I am interested in making my own baby food. Is it safe to give a baby honey that has been cooked, as in this recipe?

Hi Linda,
Actually too much of any food that is considered a carb can raise triglyceride levels including juice, rice, candy and honey (especially to those predisposed to the disease)--that's why it's always a good idea to watch your portions, even of honey.

My sister reseached honey and found that it rises your triglycerides, which is associated to cholesterol. So if you have high cholesterol, honey wouldn't be good for you.

Honey has a wonderful taste--even supermarket brand! I use it in hot beverages, in bran muffins, and anywhere sugar is called for. My surgeon suggests it in place of sugar because it has great benefits for healing! Love it!!!!!!!!!!

If you live in Florida or that region, try Palmetto honey! It is dark and a mild honey. I like it better than any, however not always available in all regions of USA.

People may think this is crazy, but if you dab a bit of honey on a pimple and cover it with a little band-aid, it will be almost completely gone by morning. I've tried all those acne gels and they don't have near the amazing and noticable results as just using a little dab of honey. Makes sense though since it's a natural antibacterial. My teenager was ecstatic with the results when I told her to try it and I've tried it on those little hard hurtful zits too.

I use honey as a remedy for sore throats and coughs. It seems to work just as well as OTC medicines.
