I recently went to a Philies game and found some surprisingly healthy choices. It may take a little bit of searching at any stadium, but there are usually options. I found a delicious black bean veggie burger that was definitely more healthy than a hot dog and tasted great too! I also saw a salad somewhere...healthy choices are definitely there if you want them!

Hot dogs? Gross! That's where all of the parts of an animal that you would NEVER eat if you saw them not on a bun are hidden. And the hot dog casings are animal intestines.

That's why 2/3 of Americans are overweight and obese, over indulgence and over eating at sporting events

We Americans are too fat and that is a fact. If you do not want to follow the advice on this page, don't. But for others it may be helpful. The comments here are to the effect that splurging is ok at games, or part of the experience. In reality, however, Americans think that about EVERYTHING. We overindulge at any and every event in our life. Had a hard day at work? Follow it up with a huge ice cream sundae after work. Eating lunch with co-workers? "I can't just order a mixed green salad, everyone else is having burgers and fries." Dinner with family? "Here, honey, have a third helping of that macaroni and cheese." "Ok, grandma." I find the reactions of the people who commented on showing a little restraint humorous. Most of my life I have been overweight, too, so I am not pointing any fingers. Th bottom line is that we have to snap out of this food coma we are all in, move around more, eat less and be happier and healthier. Just some "food for thought." (See, we even need a non food-centric phrase here.!)

Half the reason I go to the ballpark is for the 'splurge' of eating overpriced hotdogs and other junk food! Maybe I'll consider a turkey dog next time I'm there... or maybe not. ;)
